Before March 10, 2024, the Collier Township Commissioners had their meeting at 7:00 p.m. This later meeting time accommodated ALL Collier Residents. The current President and the other board members who are running for relection have changed the meeting time to 5:00 p.m. to push through their personal agenda without the public noticing. Well, WE NOTICED!

Collier Township recently imposed a garbage fee on ALL residents. This year the fee is $120/household and it increases yearly! The chart below illustrates the amount collected per household, the amount in the budget per year, the amount collected for the new garbage fee and the surplus from this fee. Why did Collier HIDE this money from the community? Most likely to spend on their pet project at Nike Site!

First was the discussion concerning a garbage tax. The monies collected are not separate and only used for refuge services, its for their pet project - building fields at Nike Site. Upon further investigation an accounting of the garbage tax has yet to be provided (dollar for dollar for where your money is going and why their is not a line item in the budget for this collection & fee given its been collected for nearly a year. WHAT IS COLLIER HIDING AND WHY? Its a travesty that they cut Fire & EMS but promote their pet projects and are not transparent with their financial statements.

The actual meeting minutes can be VIEWED HERE but more importantly, the hiring of a marketing firm for two months prior to the primary which the majority of the board controls provides skpeticism that the board wishes to promote the candidates and not the township. This is questionable activity by the leadership of the Collier Township Board of Commissioners. As stewards of our tax dollars this tactic is unconscionable and Yes, we are watching and so should our community!
